You pick up the heavy knocker and let it fall back onto the door. No one answers, but, to your surprise, it swings wide open with a creak. You take a step into a shadowy hallway, flicking on your phone's flashlight.

"Hello?" You ask, your voice much quieter than usual. Once again, no one answers you.

You creep forward, holding up your phone. It casts a light around a wide hallway. A spiral staircase winds upwards, but your phone cannot illuminate the upper landing. There is one door to the left of the staircases and one to the right. You look around, but there are no signs indicating where the history books are. You look between the doors and the staircase, then make your choice.
